Accessibility Statement for Argos

Argos website accessibility

This page explains what we are doing to support assistive technology users and customers with cognitive accessibility needs using the Argos website. It covers:

  • How we test for accessibility
  • Known issues
  • Reporting an issue

How the website was tested

We review designs and use accessibility testing tools to identify and fix accessibility issues on an ongoing basis.

This website was also manually tested by Digital Accessibility Centre in August 2025 focusing on a typical customer journey for a home delivery: from logging in to checking out.

Known issues

Our accessibility testing feedback suggests that customers should expect to complete a home delivery independently, while experiencing some minor accessibility issues.

We would like to make you aware of some of the issues you may experience and potential workarounds.

Screen readers

  • The cookie consent banner is visually prominent but programmatically placed at the bottom of the page. To avoid needing to navigate through the page screen reader users can use 'shift + tab' to go back through the browser address bar options to access the bottom of the page.
  • On the search results page each product listed has multiple links. There is a product description link, and adjacent links that have no accessible name. The links with no accessible name will take you to the product description page for that product.
  • Some checkboxes and other form controls (for example in the cookie consent banner, and the filters on the search results page) do not have programmatic labels or are not descriptive enough to understand what they are for. You will need to explore the surrounding content to understand how to use these elements.
  • Form errors are sometimes not announced or disappear when inputs receive focus (for example credit card and phone number errors). If you cannot progress through a from explore the content around the input fields to find any input errors that are blocking you.

Keyboard only

  • The cookie consent banner is visually prominent but programmatically placed at the bottom of the page. To avoid needing to navigate through the page keyboard users can use 'shift + tab' to go back through the browser address bar options to access the bottom of the page.
  • Modals (such as cookie preferences and some of the purchase side draws) allow you to navigate outside of them while they are open. If you find you cannot re-enter the modal, try closing the modal with the Escape key or refreshing the page using (Ctrl + R on Windows or Command + R on Mac).

Low vision, zoom and magnification

  • The colour contrast of some text like error messaging, and some icons and graphics in the customer review section will be hard to read for some customers. As an alternative you can download the Argos app and use the various accessibility settings to set a dark theme or change other aspects of the colour scheme.
  • In the purchase modal/side draw when zoomed in or using a larger font setting on a mobile device, in landscape mode the viewable area can become very small. If this happens, we recommend viewing in portrait mode and using pinch-and-zoom or magnification.
  • Some pages and screens may not respond to pinch-and-zoom on mobile devices due to a meta viewport setting. If you experience this you can try using a different browser (Google Chrome allows you to bypass this setting) or use magnification instead of zoom.

Voice activation

  • Some buttons e.g. to remove filters on the search results page, to expand and collapse content, "Change" links, and some checkboxes lack accessible names or visible text that matches the expected voice command. Most dictation software will support grid and number navigation if natural language voice commands do not work.

Concentrating, remembering and understating information

  • The website uses bright colours that may be distracting or overwhelming. Alternatively, customers can try using the Android or Apple mobile apps in dark mode or applying high contrast mode, invert colors of other operating system settings on your device.
  • There are some animations for example when scrolling the menu animates to the top of the page and when you opt in to Nectar Offers. You can disable animations using 'reduced motion' and other similar operating system settings
