Installation and recycling

We offer a range of installation and recycling services dependant on the product you're purchasing, please check the product information for the services available to you when making your selection. For the majority of services we offer we'll complete these at the time of delivery of your new product, removing any packaging at the same time too. Some services we offer such as Furniture recycling and complex gas installations we work with trusted partners, but you'll still get the same expertise and aftercare that you'd expect from Argos.

Large Appliance Installation:

For any integrated appliance or any type of cooker, we can install your new product and check it's working as part of this service. We'll also disconnect and take away your old appliance, along with any packaging, and recycle it as part of the installation bundle.For freestanding washing machines, dishwashers, fridges and freezers – you'll need to disconnect your old appliance before we arrive, defrost your freezer and empty any water, we'll then install your new product and recycle the old appliance as part of the installation bundle.It's important you're prepared for your new products installation. • Make sure someone is home as we can't leave these items in a safe place
• Ensure there's space for our delivery lorry (they're quite big) – roughly enough space for two cars
• Check your measurements – check where your appliance will fit as well as access to your room of choice, including gates, doorways and stairways.
• If a replacement appliance has different fixing points, bracket positions, hinge locations, or dimensions from the previous appliance, it may not be possible for our installers to reattach the existing door panel. Our installation teams cannot drill new holes or modify cabinetry, doors, or fittings.
• Before we arrive, you'll need to check that your home is ready for your new appliance. For wet appliances: ensure the cold-water feed and waste pipe are in good condition, and that an electrical socket is nearby and accessible. For ovens: you'll need to ensure the hot zone (the area above your cooker) is free from combustible materials such as wallpaper, cupboards, shelves, plug sockets and switches and if we're installing a gas appliance, ensure your gas pipework is in good condition and 1 metre away from where your appliance will sit - these are legal requirements.
• If we're unable to connect your appliance due to one of the above checks not taking place, we won't be able to refund your delivery and installation charge (this does not affect your statutory rights).
• It'll take between 25 minutes to an hour for delivery and installation, depending on the type of product we're delivering.
• We're working with a partner on some of our deliveries. But you'll still get the same expert installation and aftercare that you'd expect from Argos.

Large Appliance Recycling:

• Recycling is included in the price of all appliance installation bundles or can be purchased separately without the installation service.
• For any integrated appliance or any type of cooker, when we arrive with your new product we'll disconnect and take away your old appliance and recycle it.
• For freestanding washing machines, dishwashers, fridges and freezers – you'll need to disconnect your old appliance before we arrive, defrost your freezer and empty any water, we'll then remove and recycle the old appliance when we deliver your new product.

• American Fridge freezers - Collection is only offered through the home delivery service on the purchase of selected large domestic appliances.
• Old American Fridge Freezer appliances to be collected MUST be disconnected, defrosted (for at least 24 hours) and emptied of water. Failure to comply will result in the old item not being taken away. You will be given a refund of the charge for the collection service.
• Please note that removal of the old American Fridge Freezer is only available at the same time as the new one is delivered. If the old one cannot be removed at the same time, we will not come back and collect at a later date, and you will receive a refund of the charge for the service.
• The American Fridge Freezer is to be disposed of must not present a health and safety risk to our staff.
• We will take away your old American Fridge Freezer, so you don't have the hassle of taking it to the local tip or recycling centre.
• Please note plumbed in American Fridge Freezers cannot be returned

Mattress recycling:

• This service is available to purchase through home delivery on the purchase of selected mattresses, so please check the product information when making your selection.
• Our driver will bring a green recycling bag when they deliver your new mattress, so all you need to do is bag-up your old mattress and we'll take it away with us to be responsibly disposed of.

Furniture Recycling:

• We've partnered with Clearabee to help you dispose of unwanted furniture responsibly, because it's better for our planet.
• You're able to book a furniture removal service at a competitive price, through Clearabee directly.
• Clearabee is a carbon neutral and eco-friendly service. They offer a same day and on demand service, DBS checked & vetted staff and arrival SMS's & live tracking links.

Recycling electronic items in-store:

If you have an old electronic item bring it into store and we can safely recycle, refurbish or resell these items for free, with the following guidelines:

• Our store must sell a similar item to the one you're recycling
• You have purchased a replacement item from us within the last 28 days
• You can provide proof of purchase
• Only one item can be exchanged when purchasing a new one
• Electrical equipment that has a crossed-out wheelie bin symbol can be recycled. - If your old product doesn't have this symbol, we'll still accept it as part of an equivalent purchase and arrange for it to be recycled, re-used or resold to the best of our ability.
• By recycling electrical and electronic equipment and diverting it from landfill, you're helping prevent the lead and the other harmful toxins they contain from polluting the soil and water. These toxins are harmful to our environment, wildlife and also detrimental to human health. This service is being offered in accordance with The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations (2013).
