When does my cover start?
The cover kicks in from the very day you purchase Argos Care.
When does my cover end?
Most Argos Care policies will have the duration shown on your receipt or policy documents (unless the policy has ended in accordance with our T&Cs).
However, If you have Monthly Care, your policy will continue until you cancel it (unless the policy has ended in accordance with our T&Cs).
If we replace your product or give you vouchers to replace the product yourself, the policy will end immediately.
How do I make an Argos Care claim?

How long do I have to cancel my Argos Care policy?
You can cancel Argos Care anytime you like during the policy term.
But you'll only get a full refund if you cancel within the 45 day cooling off period if no claims have been made. You can pop into your local Argos store or call our Customer Services team.
After the 45 day 'cooling off period', you'll get a pro rata refund (so we'll refund you the remaining months on your policy) if no claims have been made. To cancel after the 45 day 'cooling off period', you'll need to contact Domestic & General.
- Please note: for Monthly Care, if you cancel your policy after the 45 day 'cooling off period', you won't receive any refunds.
Who are Domestic & General and Castelan?
We have specialised insurance companies that provide Argos Care. Here are the details of our providers…
Argos Monthly Care, Electrical Product Care, Replacement Care and Furniture Care are provided by Domestic & General Insurance PLC.
If your Argos Furniture Care policy was purchased on or before 27th January 2023, this will have been provided by our previous Furniture Care provider, Novus Underwriting Limited on behalf of Helvetia Schweizerische Versicherungsgesellschaft in Liechtenstein AG and administered by Castelan.
Can I buy Argos Care after I've bought my item?
Yes!
You've got 45 days after you've bought your item to decide if you want to buy Argos Care to cover it against faults, breakdowns or accidental damage.
Just pop into your nearest store, with your purchase receipt. One of our super-helpful colleagues will find you the right policy to keep your item safe-and-sound.
Are there other product insurance providers?
Yep, other companies sometimes offer product insurance options. It's also always a good idea to check if your domestic electrical goods item is already covered under your household contents insurance or any other policies you hold.

Does buying an Argos Care policy affect my statutory rights?
Your statutory rights will not be affected when you buy a policy.
These include the right to claim a refund, repair, or replacement for up to six years (in Scotland it's up to five years after you became aware, or could with reasonable diligence have become aware there was a problem) if your electrical goods were not of satisfactory quality or fit for purpose when they were sold to you. After the first six months, you will have to prove that the goods had a fault when sold to you.

Meeting the obligations under your policy
Domestic & General Insurance PLC and Helvetia Schweizerische Versicherungsgesellschaft in Liechtenstein AG are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. If they cannot meet their obligations to you under the policy, compensation may be available to cover these obligations. The compensation provides for 90% of any claim with no upper limit on the amount of the claim.
