Do not dispose of electrical items in your normal household waste.
The crossed out wheelie bin symbol means an electrical product should not be disposed of with normal household waste. Removable batteries provided with electrical products must be taken out and disposed of separately in accordance with battery disposal regulations.
Electrical items may contain hazardous substances which, if not disposed of safely, could have negative effects on human health and the environment. By ensuring electrical items are disposed of correctly, you are helping to prevent potentially harmful consequences for human health, as well as the environment and wildlife, while also helping to contribute to the recycling of materials where possible.
It is your legal responsibility to ensure electrical items you own are separately disposed of for recycling and environmentally safe disposal. You can do this by returning them to your local Sainsbury's or Argos store for free if you bought it from us, or taking it to a suitable facility for disposal. Visit www.recycle-more.co.uk, choose the type of electrical item for recycling and enter your postcode to find your nearest recycling centre. Alternatively contact your local council.
We will also accept small electrical items (less than 25cm on the longest edge) bought from any retailers, and any electrical items on a like for like basis if you are buying a new electrical item from Sainsbury's Argos. This includes purchases made on-line, where you just need proof of purchase within 28 days to return your old electrical items to us.
